Whole30 DAY1

Whole30 Day 1, it's here! I can genuinely say that I am happy to be starting my Whole30 today.  Taking last week to get my mind moving in this direction was immensely helpful!  It helped me focus and pay more attention to the little ways in which I had let my food stray.  There is a very specific way I personally need to eat to feel my best.  When I choose to eat outside those parameters I don't feel as good.  I noticed as I cleaned up my food choices last week, my clarity and energy vastly improved.  Waking up before my alarm and not requiring coffee to function was HUGE.  I can't wait to see how I feel after 30 days!

Coffee and coconut milk
The last few days have been busy, what with Easter and my oldest starting Spring Break.  I did manage to get some prep done yesterday.  I roasted off some raw sunflower seeds and made sunflower seed butter.  I then made some more fresh coconut milk for my coffee.  I also roasted a chicken to eat on throughout the week.  Veggies are prepped in the fridge too.  Oh and of course I have hard boiled eggs!

This morning got off to a bit of a rocky start with the kids.  My son caught the cold that's been working it's way around our house.  Unfortunately a cold is never just a cold for him.  Asthma throws a whole different angle on it.  We had to get up at 5 a.m. to do a breathing treatment.  For some reason my girls didn't sleep well either last night, so everyone was up at 5.  At 5:30 my youngest decided that a screaming temper tantrum was a great idea....lovely.  I'm really trying to help her work through this phase, but she's very stubborn.  *sigh*   Thankfully she zonked out again so hopefully the rest of the day will go okay.

I had planned on taking the kids hiking sometime this week while I have them all at home, but with my son's asthma kicking up, that may be off the agenda.  We'll see how it goes.

Here are a few "catch up" pictures from the past few days...

Lunch (Friday I think?) First time I cut the mayo from my tuna.  Mashed avocado+tuna= Pure deliciousness!!

My son enjoying his apple (the day before starting to get sick)

Breakfast staple! Eggs and veggies.

Snack.  Vegetables and toasted coconut.  I had an apple too, but my kids swiped it!
I also wanted to share that I decided NOT to log my foods with MyFitnessPal during the Whole30.  Thank you to those of you who weighed in on this topic.  I took my starting stats (weight and measurements) yesterday and they've been updated in the side margin.  Not weighing daily will be difficult for me, so I have removed the scale from the bathroom, and therefore removed the temptation.

Here's to a great week...and month!!

I'll have to read up on the Whole30 thing to see what it's about. This month I'm trying for some meat free weeks. 1 night down and only lots more to go lol.

I weigh in on Friday usually... It will be hard not to! Avocado!!! You can make a Whole30 approved mayo. The vitamix is awesome for it. But mayo is a food that has no breaks for me. I eat it on everything if I have it. Avocado!!! I'm going to start using that. You are so smart :)

I am having MyFitnessPal withdrawals and finding it really hard to not want to log my calories, but I'm not going to cave in and do it. Hope your little man gets better soon, there's nothing worse than having sick kids.

Jess- I decided to still log my workouts with MFP. Plus, I went and commented on my friends workouts etc. I stopped logging my foods a few days ago to give myself a bit of adjustment period lol. My biggest thing is losing the scale!! It's a bit pathetic how attached I've become to stepping on and checking the number (multiple times a day). Yeesh!
