Get your own...

It dawned on me today, while I was making a smoothie, that I should share what I use to make mine. If I had to lug out the blender every time I wanted a smoothie, I probably wouldn't make 'em very often. My blender sucks! My nifty little $10 hand held blender, on the other hand, works great.
I toss all my stuff into my big (2 c) Pyrex measuring cup and blend away. It takes all of 30 seconds to clean up when I'm done too. I totally recommend getting one if you don't have one already.

My favorite smoothie recipe right now:
1 C. frozen fruit (I found a huge bag of mixed frozen fruit {cheap}- it has strawberry, pineapple, peach & red grapes)
1 C. Almond Milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 banana

Many times I use frozen blueberries instead of the mixed fruit...either way, it's super good!! Anyone have a smoothie recipe to share? I love trying new ones.

When cantaloupe is in season I make a really good smoothie with cantaloupe, frozen blueberries, banana, OJ, yogurt if I got it and a handful of spinach. Super sweet and yummy!

I have an emersion blender but a couple of months ago bought a bella blender, it blends in the cup like the bullet blender, it is small and sits on my counter and I love it compared to the big bulky smoothie makers I have.
I have been making lots of smoothies this year, mixtures of pineapple, strawberries, papaya, kiwi, fresh coconut, pina colada mix occationally, I have even put some nutella in a banana smoothie and it was yum. It has been fun experementing.

I am an Amazing Grass or Amazing Meal lover :) I add things like Almond milk, bananas and sometimes frozen fruit or spinach depending on what kind of a flavor I am looking for. :)

My fav smoothie right now is:

1 handful of baby spinich
1/2 c frozen blueberries
1/2 banana
2 T. greek yogurt
and a little water to thin it out
My daughter (who won't ever touch spinich) watched me make hers, tried it and won't have it any other way now :)

That hand held thing can attach frozen fruit!!??!! Hmmm! I usually make a blender full of smoothies for the kids..not really for me at this point....but they wake up at different times and this might be a good solution. Add some flaxseed oil, some vitamin D drops, and some chia seeds to the smoothie to give it a health boost! Carrots, too...kids do not even blink at any of it, either. Whoot! :)
