I'm tired of dieting. I'm sooo done with dieting. What I am NOT tired of is eating healthy and exercising. I was hit with this realization today that the old habits and old ways of eating need to be put in the past. When I eat healthy I feel great! When I eat crap I feel like crap. I need to concentrate my energies on making good choices and eating well because I want to, not because I'm on a diet. I'm going to eat when I'm hungry. Stop when I'm full. Deal with emotions instead of stuffing them with food. My body wants me to be at a healthy weight so I need to trust that if I give it the proper fuel and nutrition I will get to a weight where I am most healthy.
Leslie over at Get off Your Butt and Get Fit had a post that really struck a cord for me. Her sister-in-law, who used to work at an eating disorder clinic, wrote a great guest post and you can read it here. My blogging buddy Lucy over at Eat When Hungry also got my gears clicking and helped my thinking move in this direction.
So, here's to a healthy lifestyle! Eating well and exercising because it feels good.... and that's what's important.

Thanks for the raw common sense. I'm going to head over the blogs you linked to and hopefully get similar motivation to do the right things.
You look fantastic, and have obviously worked hard at this journey. I enjoy your positive attitude and good sane outlook. Thanks so much!
I do believe this is going to be the best post I will have read today (before & after too)!
I read the post from "Get off your Butt and Get Fit" and it is sooooo right on. That's exactly what Jean Antonello says in her book. She wrote her book back in the late 1980's, so this "eat when hungry" or "intuitive eating" as it's now called, was not well received. Now, it seems to be gaining some steam.
I've been doing "this" for 3 wks now and as Leslie's sister wrote (from "off butt") it's not as easy as it sounds. So many mind trips come into play. But I agree, it's the only healthy and natural way to get it done...for the lONG haul.
A VERY HUGE CONGRATS over and again - I am so proud and glad for you!!
**Make sure to let me know how it goes, what kind of problems you run into and how you cope. You would think it would be easy (eat when your hungry, stop when your full; keeping your body nourished)it's not, not when you're so used to depriving yourself (diets).**
Thanks for the link to my blog! It's amazing how great you feel when you listen to your body and give it what it wants/needs. Good Luck to you; keep us posted on your progress!!
Yay for Ditching the DIET!!!!
Love this post...I can't even tell you how much learning this concept has changed my whole thinking and program! Awesome!
Makes sense to me! I'm going to go read the links you posted. Thanks!
Hi! I started a new blog to document my weight loss journey. Since I want to be brutally honest, I've kept it anonymous - therefore can't invite my friends to read it. I'm looking for some followers so I have a little support in this. Check out my blog if you'd like! :)
I actually read about this on another blog and decided to give it a whirl. It is kind of scary because I have convinced myself that if I am not on a "diet" I will gain weight. But so far, so good. I actually lost a pound this week and I didn't count a single calorie! I really think that a MAJOR key to this is to trust yourself!
